Models, athletes, and artists the world over can give credit to the Ancient Kemetians practical and recreational use of cosmetics. After taking the time to cleanse and relax in the spa, ancient men and women would adorn themselves with beautiful colors and bold makeup designs made from the natural ingredients found all around Kemet. Practically, our ancients would rim their eyes with a black paste made from malachite and galena, to help shield their eyes from the intense sunlight; something athletes still do today. Of course, this also brought out the colors and beauty in their eyes, while the lead salts in the pigment warded off bacterial infections.

Since the sun was so vibrant, ancients would use natural pigments to add sheen and shimmer to their skin with gold tones to help reflect the sun; this gave them a complexion resembling the Gods and Goddesses. Over time, ancients would use a variety of pigments to paint designs on their skin for ceremonial purposes, an ancient temporary tattoo. Nubians in Aswan, Egypt still practice this with ancient Nubian henna designs.
